In this life you can do things …
… your own way, the worlds way, or God’s way!
And like it or not …
We all have to make that choice … all the time!
!!!
Isaac, Abraham’s son also had to make that choice …
There was no food in Canaan and Isaac had to decide where to go.
And there was a famine in the land,
beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham.
— Gen. 26:1
Isaac could do what his father had done when there was a famine …
He could go and seek help from the king of Egypt!
!!!
Isaac could do what the world said do … go to where there was food …
He could go to the land of Egypt, where there was both water and food!
Everyone else was going …
… and Isaac had two very good reasons to go himself!
But …
God had a different plan …
And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt;
dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:
Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee;
for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries,
and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
— Gen. 26:2-3
And you can almost hear Isaac say …
… But God …
When there was a famine in my fathers days …
… he went to Egypt and lived!
When there was nothing in Canaan …
… there was plenty in Egypt to live from!
Lord, there is nothing here …
… no rain, no grass, no food for man or beast!
!!!
But God said … “I will bless you if you stay!”
!!!
Isaac knew better than to argue with God …
And Isaac dwelt in Gerar: — Gen. 26:6
Isaac did things God’s way … and He was blessed …
Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year
an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.
— Gen. 26:12
If you want to be blessed … there is only one way …
… that’s doing things God’s way!…
